Therapist and Entrepreneur

Lana Pic

I am the owner and primary therapist at Awakening Prosperity Therapy.  I enjoy getting to know people through authentic and connected therapeutic relationships.  I aim to not only help my client overcome barriers to their own prosperity but inspire them to be the primary advocate for their own happiness and wholeness and in doing so, awaken all of the potential within to the possibilities life has been waiting for them to capitalize on.  Whether you are seeking help for yourself, your partnership or your family, I will help you capitalize on your unique strengths and capabilities to heal from past pain, set realistic but stretchy goals, and attain the life you have dreamt of.

My therapeutic approach is authentically me – down to earth, comfortable, and real.  What does that mean exactly?

We meet either in-person or online in a comfortable and private setting.  Sessions often look and feel like two people talking over coffee or tea.  Clients have described my vibe as engaging, expressive and intuitive.  As a therapist, I see my role as a supportive guide, reflecting important insights back to you, helping you gain clarity and uncover blockages, and through gentle guidance I’ll empower you to take steps in your life that will lead to your unique concept of prosperity.

But who am I really, you may be wondering.

Well, I am daughter of a US Army Veteran, former wife of a US Army Veteran, mother to 3 children, and caretaker (in part or in whole) for a chocolate lab-terrier mix, a bearded dragon, and a slider turtle.  I was born and raised in Washington state and love calling this evergreen landscape my home.  I love hiking and camping in the lush forested areas of the Pacific North West.  I find the beach exceptionally soothing and try to get my toes in the sand as often as possible.  I love coffee and music and being barefoot.  I believe laughter has a healing quality and that no one should have to be anything less than who they truly are and desire to be.  I believe it’s important to be an engaged citizen and advocate for social justice.  To be explicitly clear, I support the BLM, MMIW, and AAPI and strive to be an ally to BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.  And, I try to find ways – both big and small – to give back to my community.

Education/Training:

I received my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University and my Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Psychology, Human Development and Sociology) from Washington State University.  I am a designated Child Mental Health Specialist by the Washington State Department of Health. I am a recognized Clinical Supervisor in Washington State and can be a source of post-graduate supervision for those with Associate Licenses looking to enhance their systemic therapy skills.  I pride myself on engaging additional training in evidence-based models for working with depression, anxiety, trauma, childhood disorders, pre-and peri-natal mental health as well as couple and parenting issues.  Please see the Services pages for additional information about certifications and related offerings.

Professional Experience:

I have worked in community mental health for nearly a decade serving people of all ages, life stages and ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.  Early in my career I worked with adults seeking outpatient services for persistent and chronic mental health issues to include severe trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders, and substance use disorders.  As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I look at my clients’ presenting problems through a systemic lens.  Working with adults in outpatient services, punctuated just how systemic our problems or our solutions can be in life.  I saw first hand that our family inheritance is not solely in monetary assets but also, and quite poignantly, in the social and emotional skills passed from generation to generation.

Knowing I wanted to be part of a larger solution I began focusing my work towards providing mental health services to children, youth, parents and couples both in individual and relational therapy.  It has been extremely rewarding to help adults and young people see destructive patters in their lives and help them make shifts and changes to set their lives on their desired paths. I have experience providing mental health services to people ranging from as young as 2 years old to those in their 60’s and 70’s.
