About Online Therapy

Mental Health Therapy goes by many names – psychotherapy, talk therapy, counseling, or by the type of licensure or specialization of the provider (Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor, etc.) or their preferred modality of treatment (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Infant Mental Health, etc).  But, regardless of what it’s being called, there are standards of practice to ensure the treatment clients receive is ethically sound, evidenced-based, and necessary in the treatment of a specific condition or problem.  Therapists use a variety of assessment tools and interventions and use a treatment plan with specific goals to guide the course of therapy.  And while that all may sound very formal, I work hard to weave these important pieces into my practice in a way that feels natural, transparent and is collaborative reflecting exactly what my clients are hoping to work towards.

Traditionally, Therapeutic treatment occurs in a clinic or office setting.  These settings vary from very cold and sterile to warm and home-like.  I have always preferred a casual, cozy space that is inviting and comfortable.  As technology has become more infused into our daily lives, the field of mental health has embraced technology, too.  In my online practice, you will be invited into my office space via a secure video platform where we will have our sessions.  My office is a private, dedicated space filled with vibrant yet soothing colors and textures that help showcase my personality and style while also creating a comfortable therapeutic environment.

At the time of your appointment you simply log into the secure platform where we will video chat.  Sessions typically last approximately 55 minutes during which time we will talk about things that are important to you. I’ll help you articulate your goals, identify steps you can take now, and into the future to attain goals to include teaching you new skills and building off of your existing strengths and skills. I’ll also help you see negative patterns of behavior and help you see your innate strengths and power.  As we work together old ways of functioning will be uncovered and we will awaken your self-love, empowerment, motivation and actualization of the life you have dreamed of – emotionally, spiritually, financially, and relationally.
